    How to be a Ferociously Awesome HR Pro

    Speaker: Robin Schooling

    Robin Schooling is an HR leader, strategist, and advisor with extensive senior level experience in all areas of human resource management and talent. As Director of Talent Strategy with consulting firm Humareso, she works to promote innovative and forward-thinking strategies for future-focued organizations.

    She regularly speaks to global HR and TA audiences, writes for various publications as well as her own popular HR blog, and serves as co-host of the long-running podcast Drive Thru HR. She's been named by HR Exectuve Magazine as one of the Top 100 HR Tech Influencers in 2019 and 2020 and has served on the Advisory Boards for HROnboard (Melbourne, AUS), and BlackbookHR, HR Open Source, and the Louisiana Business Network. Robin is a fervent fan of the New Orleans Saints, a binge-watcher of Below Deck (all locales and all seasons!) and is on a continual quest to discover the perfect French 75. 

    Topic Overview:

    Business leaders and CEOs want HR leaders to develop, contribute to, and support the mission, vision, values, goals and objectives of their organizations. We do that when we establish key relationships inside the organization, partner in the strategic planning process, and take a lead role in managing the organizational change needed to meet the expectations and needs of the company, its employees, and other stakeholders.

    But HR has a PR problem and it’s more necessary than ever to overcome that stigma as we’re faced with issues including the transformation of the workplace, the rise of employees-as-consumers, and our own – let’s face it – track record. Drawing on research including Deloitte’s Human Capital Trends we’ll discuss turning this around by (1) clarifying why HR exists (2) articulating what HR does, and (3) focusing on how HR delivers value to the organization.

    There’s a place for exceptional and innovative HR in our future and we’ll cover a few easy tips for having a wildly successful HR career.

    • Clearly define the value-add of the HR function and individual roles when HR professionals align everything they do with business objectives.
